The Heart of the Community: 1982-2017
Since our establishment in 1982, Hospice of Kankakee Valley has been the area’s only community supported hospice, making HKV the “heart of the community” for the past 35 years. From the beginning, Hospice of Kankakee Valley has been dedicated to providing compassionate physical, emotional, spiritual and social support to our patients and families from Kankakee and surrounding counties.
Our hospice program has expanded to now include more complementary therapies including music, massage and respiratory therapies and pet programs. Our palliative program also continues to grow offering a full, interdisciplinary team dedicated to palliative services.
From a volunteer hospice with two employees in 1982, we have really grown over the past 35 years with 80 employees and over 90 dedicated volunteers. We are sincerely grateful for the support we have received from the community and look forward to continuing to serve the area for many years to come.
